Huawei has announced the Honor GamePad – a game controller for any smartphone with USB-C
At the Gamescom exhibition, the Honor GamePad was officially unveiled. It connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth and is equipped with a 400 mAh battery, which can be used as a power bank.
The design of the device resembles a joystick from Nintendo Switch, but without an adapter for wireless operation. The gamepad has six buttons (including a trigger at the top) and an analog stick. The key assignment in most games is automatically configured, but if necessary, you can reassign them to yourself.
GamePad is compatible not only with Huawei and Honor smartphones, but also with models from other manufacturers. The only requirement is a USB-C connector: the creators decided not to bother with micro USB support in 2019.
The price and release date have not yet been disclosed, but the controller will go on sale in Europe before the end of the year.
